John Jay Institute
John Jay Institute’s mission is to help prepare men and women characterized by wisdom and justice, truth and mercy, prudence and courage for leadership in public life. Named after a conservative founding father of our great country, John Jay Institute offers residential fellowships for college graduates who are seeking public leadership positions, and also offers other various educational resources.
When John Jay Institute came to ThoseGeeks, they had a site which worked well, but had a pretty outdated design. There was also a maintenance struggle as only one individual was able to make updates. They needed a design which not only reflects the conservative nature of the institution, but which also is modern and clean. They were already set on ExpressionEngine as their content management system, which was fine by us. We like it.
We started off by evaluating the existing site’s content and by defining a new sitemap to create an appropriate information architecture for the redesign. From there, we were able to mock up designs. After several iterations, we arrived at a design which was clean, conservative and modern. Working alongside the team, we built the site in their new content management system and imported the existing content. Even though the site is online, we enjoy a continuing relationship with John Jay Institute as we enhance the site further to better serve their students, prospective students, alumni, and donors.
