SVTDC
The Southwest Virginia Technology Development Center is part of the Office of Economic Development with the University of Virginia’s College at Wise. The Center’s goal is to aid area corporations and small businesses through training programs – both pre-developed as well as custom. Their facilities are equipped for classroom training, meetings, as well as special events.
SVTDC was running into flexibility problems with their previous website and weren’t able to expand and reorganize content in a way that was efficient for staff to update, causing a gap between their visitors needs and reality. They came to ThoseGeeks looking for a complete redesign as well as a content management system to offer flexibility and ease of use by Center staff.
Following the discovery process, we put together a sitemap and plan for the development of their new website. From a design perspective, we adhered to the University of Virginia’s College at Wise color scheme and conveyed a high tech message throughout the design. Using our go-to content management system, ExpressionEngine, we were able to build out a site which the staff is able to edit as well as add programs and events with ease. The site now contains pertinent information all the while being extremely user-friendly. Plus, as the need arises, the site can be expanded with more functionality as time goes on.
